Made from the regional timorasso grape, Massa’s Derthona is consistently one of my go-to whites. Its profile varies vintage to vintage but it is never anything less than deliciously intriguing. The 2013 is a touch richer than usual, but there in the glass are the familiar scents of peach skin, herbs, minerality, and something akin to green tea. The round, viscous flavors are supported by the aforementioned mineral crunch, with a vibrant acidity that has me dreaming of oily fishes or a seasonal tomato and basil pasta dish.
