Calabretta Nerello Mascalese

From Sicily's Mount Etna, the 70 - 80-year-old vines here sit about a half-mile above sea level in volcanic soils. Made in the fashion of reserve Barolo or Brunello, Calabretta ages its wines for 7 years in large botti before releasing them a decade after harvest. Complex notes of stewed and candied fruits, licorice, rose, and earth lead to an elegant mouthfeel with fine tannins and a gracefully lingering finish.
